Literature Café Odradek

The ODRADEK reading café is located directly in Kompott, an alternative residential and cultural project at Leipziger Straße 3. In addition to normal opening hours (for cozy get-togethers), political lectures, concerts by a wide variety of artists, film screenings, and workshops take place here. We remain a self-managed project that strives to be as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, which is why we are always open as a space for external projects and events. But you can also just come here to read one of our many books and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Dusted off from the depths of the Internet Archive, you will find the story that gave the reading café its name. We also found a short film from the then newly opened reading café in the treasure troves of the Internet. The Kompresse 1 also has a chapter about Odradek that is well worth reading.
Opening hours

The magazine “Kompresse,” published in 2015, shed light on the conditions in Chemnitz, especially the microcosm around/in Kompott. It is an exciting snapshot of the projects, content, and activities in the first five years of the house. ↩︎
